Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information The Skin Edit collects when you visit the site, why, and the choices you have.

Last updated 7 October 2026

Who we are

The Skin Edit is an online beauty, wellness and shopping publication. For anything in this policy, you can reach us at hello@theskinedit.com.

What we collect

You can read the site without an account and without telling us who you are. We collect only what is needed to run the site:

Technical data. Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard server logs, such as your IP address, browser type, the page you asked for and the time of the request. These are used to keep the site secure and working.

Shop link clicks. On shopping articles we may record which “Shop” button was clicked (the brand, its position in the list and where on the page it sits). This tells us which recommendations readers find useful. It does not include your name, email or contact details.

Messages you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include, and use it only to reply.

Third parties

Meta Pixel. We use the Meta Pixel to measure our Facebook and Instagram advertising. When you visit a page, it sends Meta information such as the page address, your IP address, browser details and a cookie identifier. If you are logged in to Facebook or Instagram, Meta may link this to your account. Meta uses it to report on our adverts and to show adverts to people who have visited us. See Meta’s privacy policy and our Cookie Policy.

Google Fonts. Our typefaces are loaded from Google’s font service, which means your browser connects to Google and shares your IP address with it. See Google’s privacy policy.

Retailers and other publications. Many links take you to other websites, such as John Lewis or the magazines whose articles we feature. Once you leave The Skin Edit, that site’s own privacy and cookie policies apply, and they may know you arrived from us.

Why we use it

We rely on our legitimate interests in running a secure, working publication and understanding which content is useful. Advertising cookies such as the Meta Pixel rely on your consent. We do not sell your personal data.

How long we keep it

Server logs are kept for a short period for security purposes and then deleted. Emails are kept only for as long as needed to deal with your message.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, object to or restrict how we use it, and ask for a copy in a portable format. Email hello@theskinedit.com to make a request.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page if the way we handle information changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
